Lickin’ Memory Fields

“Lickin’ Memory Fields” is the debut record by the elusive Italian producer Morgana. The tracks feels porous, shaped by the terrains that frame his life: outskirts, coastlines, those in-between zones where the folk music and the fractured electronics bleed into one another. Thus, “Lickin’ Memory Fields” seems both weathered and newly assembled, geographic and emotional.

Morgana’s background includes formal academic training in electronic music and sound technologies, yet his sensibility was forged elsewhere—in local DIY circuits, in informal listening cultures, where intuition often overrides craft. Recently, that quietly cultivated practice has begun resonating in more official spaces, most notably through his residency and performance at the latest Venice Biennale Musica. All of these currents—academic, underground, environmental—intertwine in “Lickin’ Memory Fields”, a record of thresholds, hauntings, and half-remembered intensities—music that seems to flicker between worlds.
